the story of the salesmen
im in manchester again.. came here yesterday wiv some of my lab for a "pombe club" meeting (pombe is the yeast i work on - yeah i kno it sounds sad, i am in a club for my yeast, but dont diss ok!!) had to get the train at 7am and as a result fell asleep in the first session of talks, then studiously stayed awake in the second after a shot of caffeine, with a pen poised to take notes and looking keen.. afterwards the rest of my labmates went partyin in manchester and stayed the night in a hotel whilst i came home to mum's cooking.. yum.. =) i feel quite jammy actually, the two conferences ive had to attend so far have been in cambridge and manchester, my two "homes"!! now im jus waiting for one to come up in the caribbean... =P
apart from that ive been trying to get my mobile phone sorted. all i wanted to do was change my existing contract to pay as u talk.. arrrgh is it jus me or does that sound like a simple thing?? singlepoint salesmen are, as annie articulately puts it, "brainless sods".. everytime i phone them each person tells me a different lie, the first guy said payt has recently acquired lots of expensive restrictions so i shouldnt change (a load of crap), the second woman said her son changed to payt and proceeded to tell me how awful it was for him so i shouldnt change, the third guy refused to help and said if i want to change i should go to a shop and buy my own payt simcard (also a load of crap), eventually i talked to a manager who gave me the number to change my contract... aaaahhh!! im already turning into a stressed-out chinese woman maniac.. which is not a good thing, and this isnt helping!! *lol*
ok, so a bit random, but i turned on one of our computers at home to find my bro had taken abt 5 thousand photos of our cat wallis and stored them in my pictures.. well theyre quite cute nonetheless so heres one jus for the fun of it!
