phd.. going down the toilet!!

hav had such a slacker's day so far.. its brilliant! that's wot fridays were made for hehe.. ^_* went for pub lunch with some lab ppl, was chattin wiv petra (girl who's abt to finish her phd in my lab) for quite a bit which was nice ^_^ i learnt loads from her abt phds actually.. bascially the story with my phd is that my direct supervisor (a postdoc in the lab) is about to leave (at end of this month) to move back to Paris, and after that, i will apparently hav no more supervisor for the rest of my three years!! yeah thats not wonderful news for me and i am kinda crappin myself.. (given that im so rubbish at this whole phd research thing..) Petra also has no supervisor and said that its hard cos ure expected to be independent - our boss Tony is too high in the field and busy to give much help.. which has screwed up her phd a bit. hmm.. i dont like the sound of that.. nobody told me abt my impending supervisor-less situation before i accepted this phd! gosh my phd really IS a big disorganised mess.. *sigh* but one reassuring thing she said was that first years are supposed to be a doss neway - u're not really supposed to get amazing results and u jus spend most of the time playing around and learning stuff.. so thats good. cos i sure do expect myself to screw up lots this year! im not sure wot i'll do when my supervisor leaves.. think i'll cry.. =p
